Street photo published on the City of Tartu Facebook page

March 13, 2021 by Kerly Ilves

I guess I haven’t been checking for my own work online for a while, as I just found another of my photos from way back in the City of Tartu’s official Facebook website from 2014! Nothing ever makes me happier when I can shoot cyclists and streets scenes in their natural state.

Thank you for giving me credit 😉

An idyllic photo of River Emajõgi at ERR.ee

March 1, 2021 by Kerly Ilves

This is another old photo, which was published on the Estonian National Broadcasting company’s website. And it was illustrating the news of “Tartu discusses plans for new river cafes and recreational areas”

River Emajõgi in Tartu, Estonia is a great river to spend your time by. There are numerous paths, benches, and even picnic areas like the one pictured below. Always glad to have my photo to illustrate such good news.

Thank you for giving me credit!

Bicycle photos are published on the Tartu Smart Bike Share Facebook page

February 1, 2021 by Kerly Ilves

I have found more of my photos from way back in the City of Tartu’s Smart Bike Share Facebook website from 2016! Nothing ever makes me happier when I can shoot cyclists in their natural state or posed ones. This past year was definitely a struggle, as I wasn’t able to take photos of cyclists out enjoying themselves. Hence this was a nice discovery!

Here are some posts with my photos:

Happy New Year!

January 1, 2021 by Kerly Ilves

New Year’s night at my hometown in Tartu, Estonia

Hopefully the new year has started well for you! Wishing you lots of creative challenges, positive thoughts and mind to question everything. As this is the way to evolve, learn and experience.

Until this year my New Year’s Eve tradition was to take my tripod and find a best spot to take photos of the fireworks. I loved this yearly challenge of surprising myself and getting better shots. Challenge yourself, as this is they only way you can get better.

“Do you have paper?” exhibition-installation

June 3, 2020 by Kerly Ilves

My most likely last exhibition for some time, will be opened on 4th of June at 5 PM at Tampere Maja, Jaani 4, 51007 Tartu. Exhibition is located on the 1st floor gallery. “Do you have paper?” is a peek to my life via notes on paper left to me. It also introduces a way of communication, which is fading. I have created in the gallery rooms installations with notes, based where they were found originally. Hence you can find sections of office, hallway, kitchen etc in my exhibition. The whole exhibit consists of reused or loaned items and it cost 0 euros to create.

Visitors are welcome to leave their own messages and put them to the window sill. If possible, add your e-mail with it as well. If you have a pen, which you no longer use, bring it with you, as this will be used to complete one exhibit.

NB! Exhibition has English narratives and is free of charge. It is opened until 28th of June, on every day from 8 AM – 6 PM. Some notes are also in English 😉

Check the opening gallery HERE. Photos by Jaak Kikas.

“Food Beyond Waste” photography exhibition

May 1, 2020 by Kerly Ilves

I am pleased to inform that once again a very important exhibition for me, has been put up for viewing. “Food Beyond Waste” can be visited now in Viljandi Pärimuusika Ait, Tasuja pst 6. You can visit the exhibition on the lobby and the lower level glass gallery. This exhibition presenting large format photos of saved food. This is a homage to a wonderful volunteer based organization called Foodsharing. They save food from businesses and share it with whoever is interested in the food. Food waste is an extremely pressing environmental problem, which is underrated and needs more attention. The exhibition is up until 27th of July 2020.

If you have any questions about Foodsharing Tartu, please contact them at tartutoidujagamine[at]protonmail.com

This exhibition is possible because of Cultural Endowment of Tartu, Silja Liivamägi and Evelyn Agyemang.

NB! Exhibition has English narratives and is free of charge. Tue-Sat 11:00-18:00.

“Wabi-sabi” black and white analogue photography exhibition

January 1, 2020 by Kerly Ilves

My newest exhibition of 2020 will be opened on 3rd of January at 5 PM at Physicum W. Ostwaldi 1, 50411 Tartu. Exhibition is located on the 1st floor.

Wabi-sabi (侘寂) is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete”. In my opinion photography is that and all around is that. Nothing is permanent and complete, always changing and moving. Come and see wabi-sabi on old analogue photos since 2001.

NB! Exhibition has English narratives and is free of charge. It is opened until 4th of February, on weekdays 8-19 and in the weekends 8-18.
